Emiiaka Shabong

Emiiaka Shabong, a Shillong resident, holds a BA Hons in Psychology, Jesus and Mary College, Delhi University and a Master's in Psychology from Delhi University. She is a certified carrer counsellor.

In Delhi, she has about six years of work experience working in the corporate sector primarily in the publishing sector. Her last job in Delhi was with the India Today Group.    Experienced in implementing training programs towards enhancing employee productivity and building committed teams. Adept at facilitating/coaching and training by using interactive discussions and “hands-on” approaches to help members learn and apply concepts Designing training and resource materials and delivering in one-to-one and group settings. Possess good analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal and communication skills.

Emiiaka’s passion and interests to work with young children and to help them in their academics started when she was in school. She has been associated with NGOs and various foundations which cater to the needs of children. When Providence School, Shillong, was started in the year 2000, she was one of the first volunteers there, while she was just in class 11. In Delhi she volunteered in the National Association for the Blind, as part of the NSS activity in college. Tara, Child Protection and Empowerment, an NGO in Delhi, caters to underprivileged children. Emiiaka was a volunteer for a period of 1 year, where she would go and help tutor the children in their respective studies.  

She returned to Shillong, and started a journey as an entrepreneur using the knowledge and skills that were acquired from the various work experiences and started a self-owned business in the hospitality sector. She discovered her passion for counseling during a stint as a school counselor in Assam Rifles Public School. Now focusing on a lifelong career in counseling, she aims to provide comprehensive guidance to students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their educational and career goals. Her diverse experience and commitment to instilling confidence make her a dedicated career counselor.
